Audits and Inspections of Air Pollution Control Systems
The SPE-AMEREX audit is similar to an annual physical, designed to evaluate the condition of a baghouse, an SDA, an ash removal or coal grinding system, or any part of a plant's air pollution control system. The audit is the first step in proactive preventative maintenance and often pays for itself many times over when potentially major problems can be identified and corrected before they cause a shutdown or critical operating interruption. SPE-AMEREX offers three (3) basic types of audits, all designed to meet the needs of our client base.
- The On-line Operational Audit observes and documents general operating conditions, concentrating on the cleaning system, bag differential, the dust evacuation system and visible equipment condition. This audit usually takes a day or less to complete and a written report is provided to complete the inspection.
- The Off-line Inspection delves deeper into the condition and performance of the equipment. The inspector is able to check inside the baghouse as well as outside, and will observe key components such as the tubesheet, blowpipes and connections, bags, cages, clean and dirty plenums, dampers and ducts.
This audit is usually scheduled for down days, especially if the unit needs to cool down before confined space entry can be initiated. At least one day is required, possibly two, for very large units. A full report with photos is normally provided, with emphasis on the equipment condition. - The Complete On-line/Off-line Audit is the total evaluation package and a valuable tool for maintenance planners and equipment owner/operators. The results of the complete on/off audit may be used as a benchmark for future inspections and may also be useful to help optimize the equipment's performance and life. Small equipment can be evaluated in a single day while larger, more complicated lines may take 3 days. Regardless, a complete report with photos and written documentation of the equipment condition is provided.
Whatever your size, configuration or current situation, the audit process will provide a long term benefit for a relatively low cost with minimal interruption of daily processes. Your local SPE-AMEREX sales person will be available to provide a proposal for an audit which fits your needs.
